My First Cross Stitch Pattern Used As Crocheting

Well gave it my all and have to say I like it. Been working on this on and off for 2 days would have been down sooner but, had some sewing to do for some friends but, here is my progress.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Haven't yet decided if it will be the center piece of a blanket or a pillow but, wanted to show off what I have so far. Have to say it turned out ok. I like following grid lines to come up with a nice crochet center piece. I liked it so much that I came up with my own design to do a Sudoku blanket. I know I know that would take some time lots of time but, I want to give it a shot and go for it to see how it comes out. I have plan to get start on it tomorrow at least start it off.:)

But, this is the design I followed:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Sorry I took a picture of the paper upside down but, you all get the picture of what I did. I also didn't do so well with the red in the center but, I gave it my all and I like how it turned out. I have many more designs I like to do one day but, so you have it.

What do you all think?

Also should I just stop now and make it into a pillow?

Or should I keep going and make it into a blanket?

Haven't yet decided but, I am open for others opinion.

So thanks for stopping by to read my blog have a great night or day depending on when you ready this.

Take care.

My Very First Attempt

Ok wanted to try something I haven't never tried when it comes to my crocheting so I went ahead and got started on trying to crochet letters. I gave it my best learning from my mistakes. So here is my first finished project with crocheting with letters.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My daughter Nesa a pillow that says Nesa My Big Girl.
Now I just mainly wrote out the words on a grid line paper and came up with this after crocheting. I was just happy that I got it ok.

I also went back using yarn and yarn knead to go over the outline of the word Nesa I realize I shouldn't have done that because it took away from the crochet part of it so I didn't finish with the other words. I know next time not to do that but, shoot this will be my girls pillow anyway. I always do things for them as my first try at things. I sewn white fabric on the back and then I crochet around the edge of the pillow with fun fur red yarn by Lion Brand to give it more design like to it.:)

So gave it another try but, this time I found a cross stitch website that has letters on grid line paper and here is my second attemp.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The most big mistake I did was having my daughter Nellie pick the colors but, incase you cant see the writing it has hearts at the top and then it says NELLIE not yet finished thinking about ending it right there and start over with 2 different colors but, it was my attemp to give this a try and I can't say I didn't try I did. So there you have it. I am giving it another try ready to do a design I found on a cross stitch website to see how it would come out. My mom is also asking me to do her a pillow. So want to find a design to put on a pillow for her.
There you have it my attemps to give crocheting letters a try. So what do you think? :)

Purse Tutorial Reversable Bucket/Oval Bottom Purse

Ok I have done this tutorial a while back but, only had posted it on Crafters and never my blog due to a lot of people in some of my yahoo groups they have always asked me how I do my purses and do I follow patterns well not really I go by trial and errow and wanted to go ahead and put my tutorial on a purse I have done for my mom awhile back. So for those that like to follow these directions or just maybe change it up a bit its up to you. Here goes:

Warning giving heads up will have lots of pictures. All the words are under the picture that is shown.

Dont know the name of this purse I guess it's bucket that's what I keep seeing but, here go my bucket/oval bottom purse.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
In this picture to the right and left part of the picture same fabrics 2 interfacing 1 blue 1 black fabric. So that makes it 2 black 2 blues.
I measure by eye so mainly you decide your measurements. Mainly a square is how I start off. Top of the purse is more longer then the sides.
Below is 2 black 2 infterfacing 1 cardboard for the bottom of the purse. I shape out my oval as I clip in the pins.
To the far right is 2 blue 2 black fabrics for the straps. 2 rings and 2 smaller fabrics 2 blue 2 black for the ring holder.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here I cut in half 1 blue and 1 black fabric. This will be sewn together mix match.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Strap: I take 1 blue and 1 black fabric line them up folding in the ends so you wont see the ruff edges and sew together. This also goes for the small strap holder pieces

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Left side before right side after

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Straps: after sewn 2 small ring holders I put though the 2 rings.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
To your left will be the outside or shoot inside it's reversable. I just mix and match the blue/black and sewn them together and iron them open. For all fabrics I iron to the interfacing fabric.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
To your left is where I sew up both sides ONLY I double sew it helps to have the purse last longer and also keep it flip inside out without the thread wearing out. To your right I turn out after sewing both sides. This will be the outside of the purse for now.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I then take the bottom fabric after ironing to the interfacing I then pin to the purse and cut around it taking away the fabric I don't need. Then I sew together. For the inside and outside pieces.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This the bottom of the purse. I also cut out the cardboard to size up with the bottom.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Put the cardboard at the bottom of the purse see now it holds up from the cardboard. I put a little hot glue on the card board so it can stick to the bottom of the purse so it wont move while reversing it over and over.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Put the bottom on the inside fabric also. To the left is the inside of the purse to the right is the outside. Wish ever side is never no wrong side when you is doing reversable.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
1 strap will be sewn to 2 rings as seen here in this picture. Fold in the edges and sew to hide the ruff edges.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
I then put the inside lining in the inside and fold in the edges making sure none of the edges of the fabric shows and pin it closed.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here I open up the fabric to pin in my straps between both fabrics.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here I sew all around the purse closing it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Side 1 and back of side 1

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Side 2 and back of side 2

So there you have it a reversable purse with a oval bottom to it. You can reverse it as much as you like. :)
Thanks for looking you never know maybe you can try to make a purse. How you like it tried to do ever direction I could so hoping I didn't leave to much out. :)

For My Oldest Daughter (Nesa)

Well been a little busy with a quick crochet project that didn't take long. Well let me start off here.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I brought this plain white shirt of my daughter. I really don't like these shirts because it's so plain but, I still buy them to jazz the shirts up a bit. Like dye it or give it a little glamour and spice to it but, this time I wanted to crochet a bolero for it. :) So here is the before and now the after.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

See there you have it a little crochet jazz style to the shirt. My daughter loves it:) Sorry no picture with her she's gone for the weekend.:)

After she was done she was jumping up and down saying mom please don't forget to take a picture of it and put it on your computer so everyone can see what I did. I told her I will put it on my computer which she was meaning post to my blog. Then she said when she come back home she want to see it on my computer so now she will be able to see it when she comes home later. :) See how crafty she is lol again just like her mom (BLUSH) (SMILE) lol.

I let her add just a few but, she so wanted to add more but, I didn't want her to go overboard on it. LOL plus I think when she wears it to school she going to get bored and start pulling them off anyway but, at least the jacket can have some jazz to it for now.:)

So there you have it.

No Finish Projects At Least No Just Yet!!!!! :(

Have been so busy with kids and all that I haven't yet to finish a project in a minute I am working on a couple projects I find myself starting more when I haven't yet to finish others. But, getting around to finishing most of my projects soon. But, here is a up to day on most of my project.

I started on a off the shoulder burgury crochet shirt for myself so far I am now working on the first sleeve then I noticed that I am now running out of burgury yarn so there I have to get more but, here is a updated picture on that.:)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It is going to fall off my shoulders. Since it is opened double crochet stitches with a chain one that means I will wear like a tank top under it.:)Can't wait until I finish this one. Hopefully the next picture on this top I will be wearing it.:)

Now you know me had to start something else. Came across this yarn called Zebra by Red Heart that I loved so I had to get it. I decided to make a bolero that ties up on the side.:)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here is the start so you can say I am 75% into it have started on the first sleeve and just started on this bolero yesterday so it was a fast progress.:)

Ok with my sewing I have been behind on that well here is my excuse lol. The weather here in Milwaukee really for the pass couple of days haven't been fall weather we have been up in the high 80's and early 90's for days and when it is like that I tend to stay upstairs in my house where my air condition is at. My sewing area is downsstairs and I just couldn't work under all that heat and that dang fan wasn't cooling me off at all. lol But, I got to bring some of my fabric upstairs and start cutting out patterns for some shirts I like to do for my oldest daughter Nesa.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Here go 2 shirts I would like to get started on for my oldest daughter Nesa. The blue one to the right I want to use that blue thread to do some crochet edging around the sleeves and around the bottom of the shirt for a little bit of more design. Plus I would like to try the crochet edging to see how it looks. :)

Now that the weather is starting to become more of fall weather I can now get to sewing all my sewing projects. I also have some recons I would like to do hopeful this week or this weekend coming up.:) so look for those soon. Thanks to all my blog readers for stopping by to check out my blog. :) Everyone have a great night or day.

Take care.

My First October Topic (WIP)

I have been very busy lately and behind on a couple of my projects. I have projects sitting on my sewing table just calling my name but, I am out like always buying up more fabric to make more outfits.:) So I have a few wip with my sewing and a few with my crocheting also.:)

One of my WIP crochet:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here I am doing a lacy like shirt in burgundy so I am like about 75% into this one. Also I started on a black one that is in the picture also. That I just getting started on so will be awhile with that one.:) The lacy like crochet shirts I will wear over a tank top.:)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Here I am working on a brown tote for my mom just have to finish the straps and also line the inside of the tote.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Just had to buy some more fabric:) Have some plans with all these fabrics me 4 shirts and my oldest daughter a shirt out of the pink one:)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
More yarn in my stash as always. The price to the Red Heart yarn at Walmart went down to a dollar and something it was 2.23 at first so looking at the price I had to grab. I also got some Peaches N Cream yarn and some thread I think I will do some shirts for my littlest one with the thread yarn. So you see I have plans for most of these yarns just have to finish most of my other wip before moving on to something new. Also winter will be soon here in Milwaukee. So I need to get started on hats and scarves for my girls. I think I will use my knitty loom to do the hats. I yet to finish a project off of my knitty looms.:)

Well that's it just wanted to update my blog for the first time this month with a couple of my wip. Now have to get my butt back in the bed and curl up and watch a movie while I crochet. Everyone take care and have a great day or night depending on when you read this.
