Hey blogger friends. I aint gone just yet. I finally got to get a little project done. It took me a week to get it done but, it was totally worth it after I finished. Due to me working and going to school I got to throw in a bit of sewing ever day making plans on what I will finish everyday so I could get this done.
I love how it came out. I am not a dress fan but, I wanted to do this in denim and see how it comes out. Plus since it has a belt to go with it I totally had to do this pattern and see would I love it.
I did the pattern by Butterrick 5194.
Front
I used this pretty blueish cotton fabric for the inside lining only at the top of the dress. I like how I let a little of it shows at the collar. :)

Another front
Also as you can tell I have a pocket on my right side of the dress. The pattern asked for 2 pockets but, I only wanted one pocket. I also like how the pocket hides you cant tell it's there. :)
Back

Here go my pattern review.
Pattern Description: A denim dress
Pattern Sizing: 22W
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? A little it did look a bit like it.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very easy to understand.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn't have any dislikes I just did my own alternations on what I wanted to change.
Fabric Used: Denim and cotton
Notions Used: 5 buttons that measure in 1 1/8 inches
Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Only did one pocket instead of two pockets. Only did 2 of the belt loops in the back of the dress. I cut it shorter to the knees but, I also added a bit of denim and gave it a bit of a hem at the bottom. Serged to the lining of the opening only used a little of the cotton fabric for the inside of the lining where the collar is and a bit of the opening of the dress. The one pocket also have the same fabric of the lining.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew this again but, with a different fabric. I would recommend it also.
Conclusion: This is the first dress I have every made for myself. I like how I can show off my waist with this dress with the belt that was one reason why I decided to make this dress. It worked out great I gave it my own unique-ness to it with my own style to make it my own.
There you have it my latest projects. A dress. My very first dress made for me by me. :)
Thanks for stopping by. Hope everyone have a great week. Take care. Of course I will be back with another project soon. :)

You did a fantastic job on that dress. I'm sure you will get a lot of wear from it too.
Sharp and chic, Lesa! You look fabulous in dresses! Very glad to see you sewing again!
Lesa, I love this dress on you. The short length is so flirty! I would just love it if you would join us on the plus-size sew-along on patternreview. There are a bunch of us full-figured gals sewing and encouraging each other. Lots of women have come out of lurkdom to sew along.
What a great dress!
Very nice, I don't know how you found the time but good for you and good luck with your studies.
Just darling! great fabric and color on you!
You are working that dress and look at those legs... work it Ms. Thang.
I love this!! And I can never get shirt dresses in my proper size to close.
It's adorable. You look great in it. I looked at that pattern but wasn't sure how it would look on someone with a large bust. I'm going to have to grab that pattern next time they go on sale.
This is adorable on you, great job for a first dress! You are shaped very simiar to my young mother; full bust, curvy, with a small back and slightly short waist. Just my two cents, but keep the current size you are cutting and adjust the bust area but opening it up along the front bust area. I think you could also take in the back area just alittle by taking out some of the back area vertically. You would have a perfect fit with no gapping at the button holes. I hope you don't take my info as criticism, but I know when I was younger and a new sewer I would have loved someone to help give me info and guidance. Again, hope this helps and I love your dress and blog! :0)
wo wlesa, your projects are looking great! Love the dress!
